Custom API Key
Use your own Gemini API key to generate with your own quota.
Adding Your Key
Custom API keys are available on Pro and Premium plans.
1.Get a Gemini API key from Google AI Studio (
aistudio.google.com)2.Go to Settings → Custom API Key
3.Paste your key and click Save
Once added, site generation and chat edits route through your key. Credits are still tracked for rate-limiting, but AI compute uses your Google quota.
Benefits
•No generation credit cost — Your key pays for compute; Draftly credits aren't consumed for AI calls
•Higher rate limits — Your key has its own Google quota, separate from shared Draftly capacity
•Preview model access — Your key may access Google's latest preview models before they roll out on Draftly
•Cost transparency — See exact per-generation costs in Google Cloud Console
Limitations
•Only Gemini models are supported with a custom key — Claude and Veo video still use Draftly's pipeline
•Your key is encrypted at rest but is used server-side by Draftly to make API calls on your behalf
•If your key is revoked or quota is exhausted, generation falls back to Draftly's default routing automatically
•You are responsible for complying with Google's Gemini API terms of service
