How to Write the Perfect AI Prompt for Your Landing Page
Most people approach AI website builders the same way they search Google — a few vague words and a hope. That works for search. It doesn't work for site generation.
The difference between a generic-looking page and a conversion-ready landing page often comes down to one thing: prompt quality.
The Anatomy of a High-Quality Prompt
A great prompt answers four questions before the AI even starts:
- Who are you? Business name + what you actually do
- Who is this for? Your target customer, as specifically as possible
- What do you want them to do? Your primary conversion action
- What makes you different? Your unique value proposition
Weak prompt:
"Make a website for my restaurant"
Strong prompt:
"Tandoori Nights — authentic North Indian restaurant in Bandra, Mumbai. Family recipes passed down three generations. Known for our clay-oven chicken and weekend brunch. Target: Mumbai professionals and food lovers aged 25–45. Goal: get table reservations through the site."
The second prompt gives the AI everything it needs to make decisions about tone, layout, imagery direction, and calls-to-action.
Industry-Specific Prompt Formulas
For Service Businesses
``` [Business Name] — [service type] in [location]. We [key differentiator]. Clients are [target audience]. Primary goal: [book a call / get a quote / contact us]. Key trust signals: [years in business / certifications / notable clients]. ```For E-commerce / D2C
``` [Brand Name] — [product category] brand. Products: [list key products + price range]. Brand personality: [3 adjectives]. Target customer: [age, interest, location]. Goal: drive product sales. Key selling points: [free shipping / handmade / sustainable / etc]. ```For SaaS / Apps
``` [Product Name] — [what it does in one sentence]. Solves: [specific problem]. Target user: [role / industry]. Key features: [3 bullet points]. Pricing: [starting price or free tier]. CTA: [start free trial / book demo / sign up]. ```The Detail Multiplier
After your base prompt, add a "detail multiplier" section that covers:
- Tone: Formal, friendly, luxury, playful, clinical, bold
- Visual style: Minimal, immersive, dark, light, editorial, vibrant
- Key sections: Hero, features, pricing, testimonials, FAQ, contact
- Content hints: Any specific phrases, offers, or facts to include
What NOT to Include
- Long backstory about your business history (the AI doesn't need it)
- Technical instructions ("use React" or "make the hero blue") — let it decide
- Multiple competing goals ("sell products AND get newsletter signups AND book calls") — pick one primary CTA
Testing Your Prompt
Generate once. Look at the result. Then iterate with specific follow-up instructions:
- "Make the hero section more dramatic and cinematic"
- "The tone feels too formal — make it warmer and more conversational"
- "Add a FAQ section answering common questions about pricing"
