Managing Media and Files in Draftly: Upload, Organise, and Optimise
A disorganised media library slows you down. Here's how to manage it efficiently.
Uploading Media
- Drag-and-drop directly onto any section or the media library
- Batch upload: select multiple files and upload at once
- Supported formats: JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, MP4, PDF, SVG
Before Uploading
Compress images BEFORE uploading (not after). Once uploaded, original file quality is preserved — there's no way to retroactively compress.
Target sizes:
- Hero images: under 200KB in WebP
- Content images: under 80KB
- Logos and SVGs: typically under 50KB already
Organising the Media Library
Use folders to group media by project section or content type:
- `team-photos`
- `product-images`
- `blog-headers`
- `client-logos`
PDF Downloads
For downloadable documents (brochures, whitepapers, menus):
- Upload the PDF to the media library
- Get the direct URL
- Link from a button or text with `target="_blank"`
Replacing Images
To update an image without losing its placement in sections:
- Go to Media Library
- Click the image → Replace
- Upload the new version
Storage Limits
Media storage depends on your plan. If approaching limits, audit and delete unused images from old or deleted projects.
