Summary

Draftly sites are fast by default, but a few settings push scores from good to excellent. Here's exactly what to do.

Draftly Site Speed Optimisation: Get a 90+ PageSpeed Score

Draftly Site Speed Optimisation: Get a 90+ PageSpeed Score

Draftly sites are pre-rendered and CDN-served — already fast. These steps push scores into the 90+ range.

Run a Baseline

Test before optimising: pagespeed.web.dev — enter your published site URL and run both mobile and desktop tests.

Note your starting LCP, CLS, and FID scores.

Step 1 — Optimise All Images

The #1 speed killer on Draftly sites is unoptimised images.

  • Compress all images to WebP
  • Maximum 200KB for hero images
  • Maximum 80KB for content images
  • Use Squoosh.app before uploading (free)

Step 2 — Reduce Custom Code

Every third-party script (analytics, chat widgets, pixels) adds load time.

Audit your Custom Code section:

  • Defer non-critical scripts where possible

  • Remove unused integrations

  • Consolidate: if you have GA4 AND a separate pixel script, check if GA4 can handle the same tracking

Step 3 — Minimise Fonts

Loading 4 custom font weights adds 400-600KB.

  • Use a maximum of 2 font families
  • Load only the weights you actually use (regular + bold is usually enough)
  • Prefer Google Fonts variable fonts when available

Step 4 — Reduce Animations on Mobile

Heavy parallax and entrance animations on mobile can spike CLS scores.

In Draftly's mobile view settings, reduce animation intensity for sections with poor CLS.

Expected Result

After these optimisations, most Draftly sites reach 88-96 on mobile, 95-100 on desktop.
