Setting Up Conversion Goal Tracking on Your Draftly Site

A 'conversion' is whatever action matters most on your site: form submission, call click, WhatsApp tap, or purchase.

Step 1 — Define Your Conversions

For most sites:

  • Primary: Contact form submission

  • Secondary: WhatsApp button click, phone number click

  • Optional: Newsletter signup, free download

Step 2 — GA4 Goal Setup

Draftly fires a `form_submit` event automatically when a form is submitted. In GA4:

  • Go to Admin → Conversions
  • Click 'New conversion event'
  • Enter `form_submit` as the event name
  • Save
GA4 now tracks and reports this as a conversion.

Step 3 — Track Button Clicks

For WhatsApp and phone clicks:

  • In GA4: go to Configure → Events → Create event

  • Create an event triggered when `link_url` contains `wa.me` (WhatsApp) or `tel:` (phone)

Step 4 — Conversion Rate Calculation

`Conversion Rate = Conversions ÷ Sessions × 100`

A healthy conversion rate for a service business landing page is 3-8%. Ecommerce typically runs 1-3%.

Using the Data

  • Which traffic source converts best? (Invest more there)
  • Which page has the highest conversion rate? (Model other pages after it)
  • A/B test: does changing the CTA text improve conversion?
