Password-Protected Pages in Draftly: Use Cases and Setup
Not everything on your site is for public consumption. Password protection lets you share specific content privately.
Common Use Cases
Client portals: Share project updates, design mockups, or reports with clients via a protected page.
Internal team pages: HR documents, internal processes, pricing calculators for sales teams.
Event-specific content: Speaker slides, event programmes, or private downloads for registered attendees.
Beta or pre-launch: Show a work-in-progress site to select stakeholders before public launch.
Lead magnet delivery: Gate a valuable resource behind a password sent to email subscribers.
Setting Up Password Protection
- In the Draftly editor, go to Page Settings
- Enable 'Password Protect'
- Set a password
- Save and publish
Sharing the Password
Send the URL and password together via WhatsApp or email. The protected page does not appear in search engines (Draftly adds noindex automatically).
Limitations
- Password protection is page-level, not user-level (all users share the same password)
- Not suitable for truly sensitive data — it's access control, not encryption
- For granular access control per user, a dedicated portal tool is more appropriate
Changing the Password
Update the password in page settings and republish. Old password stops working immediately.
