Advanced Brand DNA in Draftly: Multi-Client, Brand Profiles, and AI Consistency

Brand DNA is the design and identity layer that Draftly uses to make every site it builds for you feel consistent and intentional. For individual users, Brand DNA saves time. For agencies and freelancers managing multiple clients, it becomes a systematic workflow that scales client work significantly.

What Brand DNA Controls

Brand DNA stores:

  • Primary and secondary brand colours
  • Font pairings (heading and body)
  • Brand name and tagline
  • Logo (in multiple formats: light, dark, icon only)
  • Brand voice description — how the AI writes copy for sections and blog posts
  • Industry category — used to bias AI section generation towards relevant imagery and copy
  • Keywords — product or service keywords that should appear naturally in AI-generated copy
When you generate a new section, page, or even a complete site from Brand DNA, all of these settings are applied automatically. The AI writes copy in your brand voice, uses your colour palette, and places your logo correctly — without any additional instruction.

Creating Multiple Brand Profiles

Agency users and freelancers managing multiple clients need separate Brand DNA profiles for each client. To create a new profile:

  • Open Brand DNA from the left sidebar
  • Click the profile selector dropdown (shows your current active profile)
  • Click + New Profile
  • Name the profile (e.g. "Ember & Ash Coffee", "Greenleaf Wellness", "Patel & Associates")
  • Complete all fields for the new client
Switch between profiles at any time using the dropdown. The active profile is applied to all new section generation, but previously generated sections retain their original settings unless you manually refresh them.

Importing Brand DNA from an Existing Website

For clients with an existing website, Draftly can extract Brand DNA automatically:

  • In Brand DNA, click Import from URL
  • Enter the client's existing website URL
  • Draftly extracts the primary brand colour, logo, and font (where detectable) and pre-fills the Brand DNA fields
  • Review and adjust the extracted values, then save
This shortcut significantly reduces the time spent on Brand DNA setup for existing clients.

Brand Voice and AI Copy Quality

The brand voice field is the most underused element of Brand DNA. A well-written brand voice description improves AI-generated copy quality dramatically.

Comparison:

  • Vague voice: "Professional and friendly"
→ AI generates generic corporate copy
  • Specific voice: "Warm and direct. We speak to experienced business owners who have seen the challenges first-hand. We avoid jargon and never condescend. We use active voice and short sentences."
→ AI generates copy that sounds like a trusted advisor

Invest 5 minutes writing a specific brand voice description for each client. The improvement in every AI-generated section justifies the time.

Brand DNA and Blog Content

When you use Draftly's AI to generate blog posts, Brand DNA shapes the output:

  • The author name defaults to the brand name
  • The writing style follows the brand voice
  • Product and service keywords appear naturally in the content
  • Internal linking suggestions reference other pages on the site

Sharing Brand DNA with Clients

For agencies that involve clients in the approval process, the Brand DNA profile can be exported as a PDF summary — showing the colour palette, font choices, logo usage, and brand voice statement. This serves as a lightweight brand guideline document that clients can approve before site building begins.

Resetting to Brand DNA Defaults

If a section has been manually customised and you want to reset it to the current Brand DNA settings, hover over the section and click ⋮ More → Reset to Brand DNA. This reapplies all Brand DNA values to the section without affecting content.
