We started VOLTA because city bikes were either too slow to be useful or too heavy to be pleasant. The C45 is our answer — a hub motor, a flat battery floor, and a frame you can throw around a roundabout.

Eleven people.
One shed in Bristol.
2019
Two of us, a scrapped Vespa frame, and a motor bought off a forum. It did nineteen miles before the controller cooked.
2022
The flat battery floor arrived — the single decision that made the bike feel like a bicycle instead of a scooter.
2026
Eleven people, four thousand bikes on the road, and the same shed. We have added a roller door.
